Michalis P. Michael was appointed Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Investment Promotion Agency (CIPA).. His appointment was announced by the Minister of Energy, Commerce, Industry and Tourism, Mr Yiorgos Lakkotrypis, and enters into force from 9 January 2018 until November, 2019.
Mr Michael is a Partner in Assurance Services at KPMG. He holds the title of Chartered Certified Accountant F.C.C.A. since 1985, is a member of the Institute of Certified Accountants of Cyprus and member of the corresponding Institute of the United Kingdom. He is the Chairman of the Cyprus-Ukraine Business Association of the CCCI since 2012 and Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus University of Technology since 2016. He was a Member of the Cyprus Broadcasting Corporation Board of Directors from 1996 until 2000. He was also Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Organisation of Land Development from 2000 until 2003, Member of the Committee for the Supervision and Development of Cooperative Societies from 2003 until 2013, as well as Member of the Board of Directors of the Cyprus University of Technology from 2014 until 2016.
CIPA’s outgoing Chairman, Mr Christodoulos Angastiniotis, wished Mr Michael every success and expressed the certainty that he will fulfil the difficult duties he is undertaking efficiently competently and responsibly.
The Director General of CIPA, Ms Natasa Pilides, expressed her personal thanks to Mr Angastiniotis for his valuable contribution to the Agency’s work, as well as the appreciation of the Board of Directors and staff for the dedication and professionalism he has shown throughout his term. Concluding, she wished him every success in his new role as the Chairman of CCCI.
The President of the Republic, Mr Nicos Anastasiades, also thanked Mr Angastiniotis for his services during CIPA’s recent Annual General Meeting. Referring to Mr Angastiniotis, Mr Anastasiades said: “He led the Agency during the most difficult times for the international image of Cyprus as an investment destination and he served his post competently, effectively and with integrity.”
